Surface Mining
This series marked a departure in my work from primarily figurative to primarily landscape. While still exploring the theme of the figure in the landscape, I decided to remove the image of the figure in favor of the mark of the figure. These mines depict the outcome of our presence in the landscape, the simultaneous beauty and destruction that we are capable of.
